How to select an Architect - Part II
How to select an Architect - Part II

• Review a variety of homes done by the architect(s) you enjoy the most. Enjoy is a powerful word as it implies there was a level of personal and professional comfort, you like their approach to design and to your project and their experience is consistent with your goals. Keep in mind, an architect specializing in commercial or tract homes does not generally have the expertise to design custom homes/remodels; there will be a learning curve which could be at your expense.

• Talk with at least three of their most recent clients and ask about their experience. Be a good listener and find out the positives and negatives to allow you to have an open discussion with the architect.

• Make sure you are comfortable with the architect. You want the architect to be a good listener as well as a communicator.

• Compare the architects through personal interviews.
